Emerging Renewables Program—Projects
Note: On 08 March 2013, the Emerging Renewables Program updated its technology priorities. These updates are included in Attachment B of the Emerging Renewables Program Information Guide.
About Emerging Renewables Program Projects
Funding for Projects is one of the two categories of funding offered under the Emerging Renewables Program (ERP).
Projects funding supports the development of renewable energy technologies along the technology innovation chain.
How to apply for Project funding:
The application process for Projects is undertaken in two phases:
- Phase one—applicants are asked to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
- Phase two—selected EOI applicants that satisfy the merit criteria to a high standard are invited to submit a Project Funding Application.
To submit an EOI, applicants must complete and submit the Project Expression of Interest (EOI) Application Form (see Related documents).
Prior to completing and submitting the form, applicants should:

ensure they understand the requirements of the program by carefully reading the Emerging Renewables Program—Information Guide (see Related documents) and following the instructions. Applicants should consider whether they meet the eligibility criteria and the likelihood of their application being assessed against the merit criteria to a high standard

read the Project funding agreement template (see Related documents). Applicants will be required to acknowledge in submission that they have read this Funding Agreement template and agree with the general conditions

contact the Emerging Renewables Program team (using the contact details listed at the bottom of this web page) to discuss their proposed Project.
How to complete and lodge a Projects EOI
To complete and lodge a EOI application for Projects, applicants should:

download the Project EOI application form (see Related documents)

complete all sections of the application form (please observe word limits and use plain English, with clear, factual and concise responses)

complete the Emerging Renewables Budget and Funding Sources template (see Related documents)

complete the Emerging Renewables Funding Agreement Compliance Table (see Related documents)
-
(optional) develop a proposed project plan no more than ten pages long

submit the EOI via email following the instructions at the bottom of the Projects EOI form. Attach the completed Emerging Renewables Budget and Funding Sources and Funding Agreement Compliance table templates to this email. If applicable, attach the project plan. No other supporting documents are allowed at the EOI stage.
Phase 2—Project funding application
Applicants may be invited to submit a Project funding application if the Project proposal outlined in their EOI is assessed to be of a sufficiently high standard. The lodgement of an EOI is mandatory to be considered for invitation to proceed to Phase 2.
Applicants that are invited to proceed to Phase 2 will be sent an application form and may be provided with further information and feedback on the EOI assessment.
Further instructions for submitting the application will be provided to these selected applicants.
As a guide, applicants must include:

detailed responses to the merit criteria—responses should be made with regard to feedback from the assessment of the EOI and in accordance with the Phase 2 guidance under each Merit Criteria in the Information Guide

documents referred to in the Information guide—including a project plan commercialisation strategy and intellectual property plan
-
completed Emerging Renewables Budget and Funding Sources, Emerging Renewables Funding Agreement Compliance Table, Declaration of Compliance for Construction Activity and Emerging Renewables Knowledge Sharing Plan templates (see Related documents)
-
either a completed Emerging Renewables Risk Management Plan template(see Related documents)or else an alternative risk management plan, as determined appropriate by the applicant.
Of note, applicants are also able to provide any other documentation they consider relevant in support of their Phase 2 Project funding application.
